Superior Parkway Reconstruction

Hennessey Engineers provided traffic control, civil engineering, construction engineering, and materials testing services to the City of Taylor on the Superior Parkway Road Reconstruction Project during the summer of 2022 which stretched from Telegraph Road to Pardee Road. The project called for the removal and replacement of the existing concrete roadway and replacing it with nine inches of concrete pavement on the existing aggregate base, with additional base added as needed to keep the proposed grade. This project also involved the reinstallation of bike lanes that were previously designed and installed as part of a TAP Grant obtained by the City of Taylor and Hennessey Engineers.

Unique Solutions / Challenges:
This project was split up between general City of Taylor Act 51 Funds and funds from the TIFA District. There was not an even split between the two funding sources and close documentation and record-keeping needed to be in place to ensure that the appropriate funds were allocated to the correct areas. This project also included the reinstallation of bike lanes that were previously designed by Hennessey Engineers and constructed with a TAP Grant. Care had to be taken to ensure the bike lane markings were installed to their original configuration.
