Holbrook Avenue Reconstruction 2021

In 2019, the City of Hamtramck received funding from the Wayne County Federal Aid Committee, ACT 51 funds, and water funds, to reconstruct Holbrook Avenue. In 2021, as part of a larger infrastructure project that began in 2019, the section from Lumpkin to Joseph Campau was reconstructed and the water main system was replaced throughout the project area. In addition, the City used Drinking Water Revolving Fund Loan monies to replace the lead water service lines from the right-of-way into buildings. This required contractor coordination, proper scheduling, and effective communication to ensure the project did not experience delays.

Hennessey Engineers provided design, plan development, and construction management services for this project. Florence Cement Company was the prime contractor.
