8 Mile Road Resurfacing / Bridge Rehabilitation

Approximately five miles of M-102 (8 Mile Road) between M-1 (Woodward Avenue) to M-53 (Van Dyke Avenue) were resurfaced in 2023 through the communities of Detroit, Ferndale, Hazel Park, and Warren (Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb Counties). The project included HMA resurfacing, concrete patching, signal upgrades, sidewalk ramp improvements that are compliant with the Americans for Disabilities Act (ADA), sign replacements, drainage upgrades, and bridge work at I-75.

Hennessey Engineers participated as part of the MDOT Mentor / Protégé Program through HNTB Michigan, Inc., and provided construction inspection and materials testing services.

Specifically, our team assisted with profile cold milling Inspection; strain pole foundation and traffic signal structure; conduit Installation inspection; watermain relocation; storm sewer pipe and structure installation inspection; mainline and approach; HMA paving inspection; bridge approach; pressure relief joint; and sleeper slab installation inspection.
