Laboratory meets highest AAP standards
The AASHTO Accreditation Program (AAP) recognized Hennessey Engineers for its outstanding Materials Testing Laboratory this week. Hennessey Engineers received AAP’s highest rating, R-18, for its exceptional testing of concrete and aggregate. Kudos to the Materials Testing Laboratory team: Steve Chorkaluk, Ken Erving, Tyler Kollien, Adam Kmiecik, and Richard McCarty, PE for their outstanding dedication to maintaining and exceeding quality standards.
AAP is the largest accrediting body in the construction materials industry. It reviews thousands of laboratory testing facilities nationally for their commitment to quality standards and performance. As an AASHTO-Accredited laboratory, Hennessey Engineers demonstrates that it conforms with specific national and international standards.
Accredited laboratories undergo rigorous third-party assessments. During these assessments, each test method is demonstrated in its entirety by the laboratory’s technical staff, and the testing apparatus associated with each test is evaluated. The assessment also includes a thorough review of the laboratory’s quality management system, including records of technician training and competency evaluations as well as equipment calibration and check records. Additionally, a detailed review of all accreditation requirements, including participation in the AASHTO re:source and CCRL proficiency sample programs is conducted for each accredited laboratory at least once per year.
